XIE GAIT Lab is sponsored by Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Engineering Center, Marquette University USA. Dr. Gerald Harris and Dr. Jacob Rammer from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, inaugurated the lab. Medical Officers from Maharashtra State Government participated in the inauguration program.
In this lab, Human Motion Analysis is done. Engineering Students work on clinical applications of the technology and data interpretation for treatment planning of children and youth adults with motion (gait) challenges.
Before establishing this lab at XIE, Fr. John Rose had to undergo one week of training both at Shriner’s hospital, Chicago and at OREC.
This lab uses state-of-the-art computer technology to capture a 3-D image of a child’s walk. Electrodes and reflective markers that are placed on the child measure muscle activity and track motion of body segments.
This data, along with a physical examination, can help the team identify specific ways to help improve the child’s ability to walk, step and run. This is the only Gait Analysis Lab in India to offer a highly subsidized motion assessment. The best care possible can be offered to the public when evaluating gait and motion challenges.
