The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Xavier Institute of Engineering aims to instil the values of selfless service and community engagement among students. The motto "Not Me But You" reflects the essence of democratic living and emphasises the importance of serving others.
NSS volunteers at Xavier Institute of Engineering actively participate in a wide range of activities designed to address the needs of the community. These activities include blood donation drives, environmental conservation projects such as tree plantation drives, beach cleanups, railway station cleanups, and awareness programs. By engaging in these initiatives, students develop a deeper understanding of social issues and enhance their problem-solving skills.
The program also focuses on personal growth, fostering a sense of social and civic responsibility among students. Through group activities and leadership opportunities, volunteers gain valuable skills in teamwork, leadership, and community mobilisation. The NSS experience prepares students to meet challenges such as emergencies and natural disasters, promoting national integration and social harmony.
“The first duty of the students should be, not to treat their period of study as one of the opportunities for indulgence in intellectual luxury, but for preparing themselves for final dedication in the service of those who provided the sinews of the nation with the national goods and services so essential to society.”
